Friends, I love adoption!! And one of the greatest joys I have in my job is being able to say “I’m a Family Photographer.” It’s more than just capturing a session every couple of years, it’s capturing the important milestones. Combine the milestones with an adoption ceremony and I get kind of giddy! This beautiful family came to me when their baby girl was 4 weeks new for Newborn images. They decided immediately that they would have me capture her first year (because they loved me 😍) and we did her four month images. At the session, they asked “Tonya, we have an Adoption ceremony next week and we know it’s last minute but we’d love for you to capture it!” And of course, I had to do it.
They had a room full of wonderful friends and family supporting them in the adoption. They went around the room and everyone introduced themselves with a little statement on why this adoption was special to them and when the judge asked me who I was, I immediately replied “I’m their family photographer!” The judge said “Wow, you have a family photographer!” And I may have added something about being baby’s favorite Auntie. 😉
Everyone should have a family photographer, friends. Find someone that truly loves and sees your family and that will capture the years as they go by because from one mama to another…they do go by so fast. I cannot believe how fast my own three kids are growing up. I’m happy to support and love this family through photography and capturing their special moments. It really is a beautiful gift to be able to look back and see the moments captured with care. These images will last a lifetime!
